The inquiry centres on a £1 million transfer made by Fiona Cottrell to Tice's company shortly before the donations reached Reform UK ahead of the 2024 general election; Fiona's son George, a convicted fraudster with close ties to Farage, has been interviewed under criminal caution alongside his mother. The National Crime Agency is also involved, having received a suspicious activity report from bankers flagging the transfer, and investigators have so far been unable to trace the original source of the funds, with the NCA seeking assistance from a foreign partner.
