Veteran Spanish matador Morante de la Puebla was injured after being knocked down and gored by the fourth bull, named Clandestino, during a sold-out corrida at La Maestranza (Seville's historic bullring) on Monday, the tenth event of the city's annual Feria de Abril. The 512-kilogram bull charged into the bullfighter's chest and appeared to wound him in the left gluteus as he attempted to escape, leaving him face down on the sand before his team rushed him to the ring's medical bay. Substitute bullfighter Borja Jiménez stepped in to complete the bout alongside Tomás Rufo — this after Morante had already earned an ear, the traditional mark of distinction, from the first bull of the afternoon.
