Puducherry (a small French-colonial-era Union Territory on India's southeastern coast) is advancing several large road infrastructure projects aimed at easing chronic traffic congestion in the city. A Letter of Acceptance has been issued for a ₹436-crore elevated corridor and grade separator linking Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi Squares, covering 3.877 km including approach ramps, with work set to begin once the contractor submits a performance guarantee. Separately, a ₹650-crore scheme encompassing an elevated corridor from Natesan Nagar to Marapalam junction and four-laning of the Ariankuppam–Mullodai stretch has received central government funding approval, with a detailed project report expected to be commissioned later this year.
