OpenAI is pivoting toward business-focused products as a path to profitability, scaling back some consumer offerings while doubling down on enterprise tools designed for high-value professional work. The company, which counts more than 900 million weekly users of its ChatGPT platform, is betting that workplace applications — such as summarising emails and internal communications — represent a more sustainable revenue stream than consumer use alone. The shift comes as rival Anthropic (an AI safety-focused startup and one of OpenAI's key competitors) intensifies pressure in the enterprise market, pushing both firms to court corporate clients more aggressively.
