The United States Air Force has filed military charges against Major Jason Watson, an active-duty officer who publicly called for the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. Watson was detained in July while protesting in uniform on the steps of the US Capitol and later repeated his calls on CNN, citing what he described as unconstitutional conduct and corruption by the president. He faces charges under three articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, including Article 88, a rarely invoked provision that prohibits members of the military from using contemptuous language toward the president or vice president, and will remain in pre-trial confinement pending due process.
