A 65-year-old man was hospitalised in intensive care after being attacked in Würzburg (a city in the German state of Bavaria) by a 20-year-old Syrian national who allegedly targeted him because he was wearing a pin bearing the Israeli flag. The suspect reportedly confronted the victim verbally before punching him in the face and kicking him in the head as he fell, fracturing a vertebra; police officers who arrived at the scene arrested him on the spot. Munich's General Prosecutor's Office has taken over the case and is investigating on suspicion of attempted murder with aggravated assault, citing evidence of an antisemitic or anti-Israel motive.
