Pakistan Customs collected a record Rs15 billion in revenue on imports from China through the Khunjerab Pass (a high-altitude mountain crossing on the Pakistan-China border and a key artery of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) during fiscal year 2025–26, up from Rs13.67 billion the previous year. Exports to China and Central Asian countries via the same route also rose, reaching Rs2.8 billion and covering goods ranging from surgical equipment and handicrafts to rice and leather jackets. Local traders, however, have called on Pakistani authorities to press China for easier customs procedures, saying restrictions on the Chinese side are hampering export growth.
