A student at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), one of the Netherlands' leading technical universities, has voluntarily left the country following an incident last week in which he performed a Hitler salute during a packed first-year electrical engineering lecture, made racist remarks to fellow students, and shared inflammatory content in a group chat. Dutch prosecutors have dropped the case, describing the 18-year-old — who had been detained on suspicion of making threats — as a "vulnerable suspect" who needs professional help. The Public Prosecution Service said it agreed with the student and his father that he should return to his home country to seek assistance, and TU/e called his departure "a reassuring development for our community."
