Argentina's Federal Court of Cassation has ordered the forced execution of 111 assets linked to former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, her children, and businessman Lázaro Báez to recover approximately $480 million — the sum courts determined was unlawfully diverted through fraudulent public works contracts awarded in the province of Santa Cruz during her administrations, in the case known as Vialidad. The assets include properties, 46 vehicles, and more than $4.6 million found in a safe deposit box belonging to her daughter Florencia, with the ruling establishing that illicitly obtained assets can be confiscated even when transferred to third parties or passed on through inheritance. Kirchner, who has been serving a six-year sentence under house arrest since her conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court in June 2025, will have her defence appeal to that court, though pending appeals no longer suspend the asset seizure.
