Morocco's counterterrorism agency has arrested 10 people, including a minor, after dismantling a cell linked to the Islamic State's Sahel branch that was planning attacks on Moroccan soil. Raids conducted across seven cities — including Casablanca, Agadir, and Tetouan — uncovered bladed weapons, military-style clothing, explosive-making instructions, and a vehicle whose fuel tank had been modified to run on butane gas for use in a potential suicide bombing or car-ramming attack. Authorities described the plots as "extremely dangerous" and in an advanced stage of preparation, marking the most significant jihadist threat the country has publicly disclosed since a 2023 stabbing attack in Casablanca in which a police officer was killed.
