Hunter Biden has told the BBC's Newsnight programme that the presidential pardon he received from his father, former US President Joe Biden, was "not good" for the American people, the Constitution, or his father's legacy — while also revealing that Joe Biden's cancer has spread to his bones. In the wide-ranging interview, Hunter acknowledged the pardon was easily and fairly criticised, but said he believed his father acted out of fear that he would be targeted under the incoming Trump administration, adding: "I was the only one in the world that could have gotten what I got from the only person in the world who could give it." The full and unconditional pardon, granted in December 2024, covered a federal gun conviction, a tax case, and any federal offences committed between 2014 and 2024, despite Joe Biden having repeatedly pledged not to use presidential powers to intervene in his son's legal cases.
