Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has called for a regional security framework in which sovereignty is respected and no state poses a threat to another, warning that the Gulf "won't be the same" without such an arrangement following what he described as an "earthquake" caused by the US-Israeli war on Iran. Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum's event on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, he cautioned against "cycles of escalation" and said the conflict's shockwaves were disrupting energy supplies, shipping routes and investment plans well beyond the Middle East. Qatar also confirmed it is actively mediating between Tehran and Washington to revive ceasefire talks, with proposals being exchanged between the two sides, while the PM announced more than $38bn in domestic infrastructure investment over five years as a signal of economic resilience amid the ongoing regional instability.
