Bolivia has sent more than 200 police and military personnel to its border with Brazil after a surge of violence linked to rival Brazilian criminal groups fighting for control of drug trafficking routes. At least nine people have been killed in the clashes, prompting the Bolivian government to order a significant security deployment along the frontier. The move underscores growing regional concern over the expanding reach of Brazilian organised crime into neighbouring countries.
