Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring (a circuit near Budapest) on Sunday, giving McLaren their first victory of the season, while a self-described "shocked" Max Verstappen finished second despite a troubled weekend in which he struggled with an unruly car and spun during qualifying. Verstappen, starting fourth, outmanoeuvred the Ferraris early on and overcame a mid-race setback — briefly losing third place to Lewis Hamilton before reclaiming it with a bold overtaking move — to secure an unlikely podium. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli finished third, extending his lead over Hamilton in the drivers' standings to 50 points, while McLaren's Oscar Piastri, who had been battling Norris for the lead, was forced to retire late in the race with a gearbox failure.
