Islamophobic incidents in the United Kingdom have risen sharply in recent years, with the organisation Tell Mama (a UK-based group that monitors anti-Muslim hate) recording 6,000 incidents in 2024 and 7,000 in 2025, a trend its director warns shows no sign of slowing. In London alone, complaints of Islamophobic incidents rose 31% over the past year, while nationally a mosque is now attacked on average every five days — including a Liverpool-area mosque that suffered three separate attacks in a single year. Tell Mama's director, Iman Atta, has called on the government to penalise technology companies that monetise extremist content, warning that online hatred is increasingly spilling into real-world violence against Muslim communities.
