Russian attacks on the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson have killed five people, according to the regional governor. A 66-year-old man was struck by a drone and a 35-year-old woman died in an attack on a petrol station, with seven others wounded; the bodies of three elderly residents, aged in their seventies and eighties, were also found after their homes were damaged in an earlier strike this week. The deaths come amid a broader escalation, following large-scale Russian attacks on multiple Ukrainian cities earlier this week that killed at least eighteen people, after which Ukraine launched retaliatory strikes on targets deep inside Russia, including reported impacts in St. Petersburg.
