Spanish coach Pedro Martínez has been awarded the Alexander Gomelsky Prize for best coach of the 2025–26 EuroLeague season, European club basketball's top annual coaching honour. Martínez led Valencia Basket (a Spanish club competing in EuroLeague for the first time at this level of success) to a record 25 wins in the regular season, finishing second overall behind Olympiacos, with the team drawing average crowds of over 12,000 to its Roig Arena home. The 64-year-old beat out rivals including Georgios Bartzokas and Sarunas Jasikevicius in the vote, and has recently signed an extension with Valencia through 2028.
