Fuel queues continue to plague Bolivians weeks after six weeks of nationwide road blockades ended, with drivers in La Paz and surrounding regions still waiting hours — and sometimes days — to fill their tanks. The blockades, which had demanded the resignation of centre-right President Rodrigo Paz, were lifted following an agreement reached on 19 June between Paz and Bolivia's main trade union federation. The government has apologised for the disruption and promised supply will return to normal by the end of July, though residents in remote mining towns such as Tipuani (about 250 kilometres north of La Paz) report queues that are even longer than in the capital.
