Nowak was fatally stabbed five times by Vickrum Digwa, a 23-year-old Sikh man who was sentenced to life in prison — with a minimum of 21 years — at Southampton Crown Court on Monday. When police arrived at the scene, Digwa deceived officers by claiming Nowak had racially insulted him and that he was the victim, saying his turban had been pulled from his head and that he had a swollen eye. The bodycam footage, released by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary with the permission of Nowak's family, shows officers handcuffing the wounded student despite his pleas.
