Hong Kong police arrested Tang Ho-wing, founder of the online outlet Boom News, on Wednesday on suspicion of sedition, local media reported, after the outlet posted a video in which a woman recounted the 2019 clash between protesters and police at Prince Edward metro station. Police said a second person, reportedly activist Lee Ying-chi, was also detained over an 31 August gathering outside the station, and dismissed rumours of deaths during the 2019 clash as baseless. The arrests, made under the city's 2024 national security law, add to concerns among press freedom groups about tightening restrictions on journalists since Beijing imposed its 2020 security law, including the 20-year sentence handed to Apple Daily founder Jimmy Lai in February.
