The documentary won the special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday following a 25-minute standing ovation, a record for the festival. Culture Minister Miki Zohar announced on X that he would "act immediately to revoke the Israeli citizenship of these despicable creators for treason against the state," accusing the directors of being willing to "harm their homeland in order to receive applause from antisemites around the world." The 80-minute film, which was produced by the Guardian and draws on reporting by +972 Magazine and Local Call, features interviews with 24 Israeli military and intelligence personnel describing AI-powered targeting systems used in Gaza. Film industry figures around the world have since expressed solidarity with directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, with signatories warning that incitement against the filmmakers was narrowing the distance between hate speech and direct threats to their lives.
