Pakistan has airlifted 100 tonnes of emergency relief supplies — including tents, blankets, hygiene kits, and medicines — to Nepal following catastrophic floods and landslides triggered by a glacial collapse along the China-Nepal border on 26 August. The disaster has killed at least 1,384 people across the two countries, with nearly 5,000 still missing in Nepal alone, where rescue teams working for nearly two weeks have pulled several survivors from buried hydropower tunnels in what officials have called miraculous rescues. Nepal's foreign minister has described the event as a "Himalayan tsunami," with reconstruction costs expected to run into the billions of dollars and the United Nations launching a $50 million emergency appeal to assist more than 84,000 affected people.
