At least four people are feared dead and several others injured after a lorry travelling at high speed caused a series of collisions on National Highway 50 near Danapur in Karnataka's Vijayanagara district on Sunday. The vehicle, a garlic-laden truck from Haryana (a northern Indian state), first struck two motorcycles before going on to hit a car, a state-run bus, and at least three more motorcycles along a stretch near the town of Hosapete, finally overturning and reportedly crushing another car. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about reckless driving on India's national highways, where multi-vehicle chain accidents remain a leading cause of road fatalities.
