Election campaigning has officially ended in Gilgit-Baltistan (a mountainous semi-autonomous region in northern Pakistan) after the regional Election Commission imposed a mandatory 48-hour ban on all campaign activities ahead of legislative assembly elections scheduled for June 7. Under the ban, which took effect at midnight on June 5, political parties, candidates, and their supporters are prohibited from holding rallies, public meetings, processions, or any form of canvassing. Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan confirmed that security arrangements are in place for peaceful polling, while major parties including the PML-N, PPP, and PTI had all actively campaigned in the lead-up to the elections, which were delayed by four months.
