Britain has deployed a 68-strong specialist search and rescue team, along with six trained dogs, to north-central Venezuela following earthquakes that have killed more than 580 people and injured nearly 2,900. The UK International Search and Rescue (UK ISAR) team — drawn from fourteen fire and rescue services and led by Merseyside — departed from RAF Brize Norton carrying drones to assess structural collapses, while UK emergency medical experts also flew out to evaluate health needs on the ground. The British government additionally announced £2 million (around $2.7 million) in initial humanitarian funding, with caretaker Prime Minister Keir Starmer pledging solidarity with those affected as international teams race to reach survivors, particularly in the hard-hit coastal state of La Guaira.
