Accell, the Dutch company behind some of Europe's most recognisable bicycle brands, has been declared bankrupt by an Amsterdam court. The group, whose portfolio includes Batavus, Sparta, Koga, Babboe cargo bikes, French brand Lapierre, and British brand Raleigh, employs around 2,000 people across fifteen countries, with approximately 350 based in the Netherlands. Administrators appointed to oversee the process say they are investigating whether parts of the business can be sold through a restructured restart, and are working to keep operations running in the meantime
