A severe heatwave has pushed temperatures to nearly 50 degrees Celsius across Tunisia, breaking long-standing regional records. The central governorate of Kairouan reached 49.7°C, exceeding its previous record of 49.2°C, while the northeastern governorate of Zaghouan hit 48.6°C, surpassing its prior high of 48°C. The extreme conditions have disrupted daily life, particularly for outdoor workers and tradespeople, prompting residents to seek relief in water, parks, and green spaces.
