Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah on Wednesday, leading a high-level delegation on an official visit aimed at deepening the two countries' bilateral relationship. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who attended the meeting, said discussions were held on expanding cooperation across all sectors, with Saudi Arabia separately pledging an additional $3 billion in deposits for Pakistan and extending an existing $5 billion facility for a further three years. The visit comes amid heightened regional tensions following Iranian strikes on Gulf states, with Pakistan playing an active mediation role between the US and Iran, and reflects a broader diplomatic tour that will also take Shehbaz to Qatar and Turkey later this week.
