West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee declared at a campaign rally in Suri, Birbhum district, that 19 BJP-governed states and the central government have united to oppose her, insisting she is fighting alone on behalf of ordinary people. Speaking ahead of the two-phase West Bengal assembly elections, she predicted her party would win more than 226 of the state's seats and rejected the notion that Delhi-directed forces could deliver victory to the BJP. The remarks came as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, rallying in the same district, accused Banerjee of intimidating the majority community and vowed that voters would oust her government in favour of a BJP-led administration.
