Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz has announced via Instagram that he will compete at this year's US Open (the final Grand Slam tournament of the season, held in New York), ending a four-month absence caused by tendinitis in his wrist. The world number two, 23, last played competitively on 14 April at the Barcelona Open and was forced to miss both Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Alcaraz, a two-time US Open champion (2022 and 2025), will return to defend his title when the tournament begins on 30 August, facing a field that includes Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Alexander Zverev.
