Colombian pop star Shakira has said she waited nearly three weeks — unsure the collaboration would happen at all — before Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy delivered his contribution to "Dai Dai," the official soundtrack of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Shakira described Burna Boy's eventual verse as "absolutely perfect" and "the cherry on top," saying she had long wanted to work with him and chose him because the track's blend of Afrobeats, Caribbean sounds, and R&B made him the ideal fit. The release of "Dai Dai" on 15 July 2026 makes Shakira the first artist to contribute songs to four separate FIFA World Cups, following her iconic "Waka Waka" for South Africa 2010, "La La La" for Brazil 2014, and an appearance at the Qatar 2022 closing ceremony.
