Ljubisa Karovic, a Serbian national, has been released from hospital after surviving a near-fatal incident earlier this month aboard a Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki (Greece) to Memmingen (Germany), during which a broken window caused him to be pulled out of the aircraft up to his shoulders at cruising speed. Fellow passengers — including a man believed to be Albanian who physically pulled Karovic back inside and used a suitcase to block the shattered window — are credited with saving his life, while his wife and lawyer say cabin crew appeared frozen in shock and did not intervene. Karovic, who must wear a neck brace for six weeks and may require surgery, says he suffers from sleepless nights and is seeking compensation from Ryanair; both the US National Transportation Safety Board and a European aviation agency have launched investigations into the incident.
