Ethiopia's Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has travelled to Accra for an Extraordinary Summit of the African Union (AU) on health, convening on 21–22 July with heads of state, health ministers, and development partners from across the continent. The summit aims to chart a more self-reliant health future for Africa, with discussions expected to cover universal health coverage, the elimination of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis by 2030, reductions in maternal and child mortality, and the expansion of local pharmaceutical manufacturing. Ethiopia plans to share its own health-sector progress with fellow members, while Deputy PM Temesgen is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Ghanaian officials to strengthen ties between the two countries.
