More than 200 vendors at the Tabo sa PAO (a traditional Filipino farmers' market in Dumaguete City, Philippines) have seen sales drop by up to 50% after being relocated nearly a year ago to make way for the rising Negros Oriental Medical City. Moved from a busy roadside location to a cramped three-metre-wide dusty road with only around 40 tables for over 200 sellers and no adequate parking, many vendors have been forced to slash prices just to move their produce. A permanent relocation to a larger site in Barangay Batinguel, roughly four kilometres from the city centre, has been proposed by provincial authorities but remains without a timeline, leaving vendors uncertain whether their regular customers will follow them.
