Sixteen additional children have been found infected with HIV at Kulsoom Bai Valika Hospital in Karachi, bringing the total number of cases to 94, the Sindh Ombudsman was informed on Tuesday. The hospital, run by the Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI) — a provincial workers' healthcare body — has been at the centre of an outbreak investigation since late 2025. Ombudsman Mohammad Sohail Rajput ordered a comprehensive financial and administrative audit of the hospital, citing systemic failures that may have contributed to the spread of the virus, and directed authorities to improve medicine availability, hire specialist infectious disease doctors, and provide psychological support and compensation to affected families.
