South Korean badminton star An Se-young has declared herself 80–90 percent recovered from a left foot injury that forced her to retire from the Japan Open on 15 July, and says she expects to compete at next month's BWF World Championships in New Delhi (17–23 August). Speaking at a commemorative medal unveiling ceremony in Seoul on Wednesday, An said she has been training without problems and is focused on completing her rehabilitation in time. The 2023 world champion and 2024 Olympic gold medallist is the first Asian women's singles player to win all four of the continent's most prestigious titles, a milestone marked by the limited-edition medal issued by South Korea's state minting body, KOMSCO.
