Japanese police have raided two construction companies in connection with a deadly crane accident at a steel facility in Kawasaki (an industrial city southwest of Tokyo). On 7 January, a counterweight detached from a crane being dismantled at the site, killing and injuring four workers, while a fifth remains missing. Investigators are searching the Yokohama branch of the primary contractor and a subcontractor based in Tokyo's Kōtō ward on suspicion of professional negligence resulting in death.
