The family of Fayyaz Ahmed Janjhi, an assistant director at Pakistan's National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), has filed an application with Sindh's top police official after he failed to return home from his Karachi office on the evening of 20 July. Janjhi's father, Sohail Sangi — a veteran journalist and member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) — says his son's phone has been switched off and that colleagues confirmed he left his workplace at around 6pm but never arrived home. The HRCP and Karachi Press Club have both publicly called on the Sindh government and law enforcement to act swiftly to locate him, and provincial police have assigned a senior officer to the case.
