Japan's Meteorological Agency has warned of locally intense rainfall across western Japan and the Amami region (a island group in Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Japan) through June 8, driven by a low-pressure system and associated fronts. The low-pressure system is tracking along the southern coast of Honshu, fuelling the development of rain clouds particularly over Kagoshima Prefecture's Amami area. Authorities are urging residents to take precautions against landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
