Social media influencer and makeup artist Mad Sandhu, whose real name was Madhusudan, was shot dead by two unidentified motorbike-borne gunmen in Amritsar (a major city in India's northern state of Punjab) on Saturday evening. Police say they have leads but have not established a motive, while opposition politicians said Sandhu had publicly spoken of threats against him and accused the state's AAP government of failing on law and order. The killing has intensified political criticism of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's administration over safety in Punjab.
