South Korean consumer electronics giant LG Electronics reported a 28.1% rise in second-quarter net income to 781.3 billion won (approximately $542 million), driven by strong demand for premium home appliances and televisions. Operating profit more than doubled year-on-year to 1.57 trillion won, while overall sales grew nearly 15% to 23.82 trillion won for the April–June period. The company said demand boosted by major global sporting events and steady growth in its vehicle components division helped counter headwinds from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
