New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill has demanded that Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell resign by Friday following an independent investigation that found he repeatedly violated the state's ethics and anti-discrimination rules. The inquiry, conducted by a law firm hired by Caldwell's office, found he made an unwanted advance toward a staffer's acquaintance and attempted to secure a promotion for a state employee he was dating, while also accepting free admission to ticketed events for personal guests. Caldwell's attorney disputed the findings, arguing the process lacked due process and relied on anonymous allegations, but Sherrill said the pattern of behaviour was incompatible with the standards of her administration.
