South Korean manufacturer LG Display posted a first-quarter operating profit of 146.7 billion won (roughly $99 million USD), a jump of more than 338 percent compared with the same period last year, driven by strong demand for premium OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display panels. OLED products made up 60 percent of total quarterly sales, with the company also crediting cost-cutting measures for the improved result. Despite the profit surge, overall revenue dipped 8.8 percent and net losses widened, signalling that broader market pressures remain even as the high-end display segment gains ground.
