Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar from Wednesday to Sunday in a bid to deepen ties with the region at a time of mounting global uncertainty. Beijing framed the tour as an effort to address "risks and challenges" amid what it describes as "once-in-a-century transformations" — a signal that China is positioning itself as a stable partner in contrast to the disruption caused by U.S. tariff policies under President Donald Trump. Defence Minister Dong Jun will join Wang in Cambodia for meetings with senior officials including Prime Minister Hun Manet and former leader Hun Sen, while Thailand's newly elected Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said he plans to ask China to buy more Thai agricultural products and expand investment.
