Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong used the 10th anniversary of the SGSecure movement (a national programme launched in 2016 to prepare citizens to respond to terrorist attacks) to warn against complacency, saying the country has experienced "very close calls" as security agencies thwarted plots before anyone was harmed. Speaking at an event attended by some 200 partners, volunteers and officials at Our Tampines Hub on 23 September, Wong said terrorism threats are now broader and less predictable, and announced that SGSecure would enter a new phase with expanded outreach to schools, workplaces and neighbourhoods. The Ministry of Home Affairs outlined plans to combat youth radicalisation through new digital tools — including an AI training chatbot on WhatsApp and engagement via gaming platform Roblox — alongside a new storybook for preschoolers and a refreshed national communications campaign to launch next year.
