Stefanie Sander, a home nurse from Houthulst (a municipality in the West Flanders province of Belgium) accused of million-euro fraud, has been given a new position at residential care home 't Hoge in Alveringem. Sander is free pending trial but is prohibited from working as a self-employed nurse; employment under a contract remains permitted. Both the facility's management and the local alderman for senior affairs have backed the decision, citing a shortage of nursing staff and Sander's professional qualifications, emphasising that it is not their role to prejudge the outcome of a court case.
