Former Cuban president Raúl Castro appeared publicly in Havana for the first time since being indicted by the United States on murder charges related to the 1996 shooting down of two civilian aircraft. Castro, who turned 95, was cheered at an Interior Ministry commemoration attended by military officials and Cuba's Olympic wrestling champion. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel used the occasion to voice defiant support, declaring "Raúl is Cuba, and Cuba is untouchable."
