Lebanon's education minister says Israeli forces looted and demolished three schools in southern Lebanon using explosives, reducing them to what she described as "piles of ashes." The destruction brings the total number of completely demolished schools in the country to at least 20, with over 100 more damaged, according to figures from UNESCO (the United Nations' cultural and educational agency). Around 500,000 Lebanese children remain out of school as a result of the broader conflict, which has killed at least 4,324 people and displaced more than one million since fighting escalated into full-scale war in March.
