Indian grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa has become the first Indian player to win the Grand Chess Tour (a prestigious international elite chess circuit), defeating American grandmaster Fabiano Caruana 15–13 in the grand finale held in St. Louis, USA on August 28. Praggnanandhaa staged a remarkable comeback, having trailed Caruana at the start of the deciding day. The victory earned him a $200,000 prize and marks a landmark achievement for Indian chess.
