India and China held their first Corps Commander-level military talks in the Eastern Sector on Sunday, with the meeting taking place at the Vacha-Damai Border Personnel Meeting Point in Arunachal Pradesh (a northeastern Indian state that China claims as its own territory). The talks, led by Indian Lieutenant General Girish Kalia and a 12-member delegation, mark a significant expansion of high-level military dialogue that had previously been confined to the Ladakh sector following the deadly 2020 Galwan Valley clashes. The meeting comes amid reported Chinese activity near the Taksing area and just days before India hosts the BRICS Summit, where Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend, underscoring the diplomatic urgency of stabilising the frontier.
